Luthuli Museum

KwaDukuza (Stanger)

Located in the former home of Chief Albert Lithulu, the museum celebrates the life of the former winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Chief Albert Luthuli who was the President General of the ANC from 1952 until his death in 1967.

His outstanding work contributed immensely to the freedom struggle in South Africa, and he was known for his commitment to human rights, democracy non-violence, and non-racialism.

The museum is housed in his original home where he lived in the home with his wife and family. The house was also a popular meeting place for others in the struggle. The home is now a National Monument and was opened as a museum on 21 August, 2004.
